
Supported Independent Living (SIL)
Supported independent living (SIL) is the name of the NDIS funding that supports to individuals with a disability to assist them in living as independently as possible.
SIL funding is typically allocated for those who require 24/7 assistance while living in a shared home. It exists to fund the costs of the house’s support staff.
Key points to consider:
- SIL supports you with daily tasks so you can live as independently as possible.
- SIL covers support you receive in your home – it does not pay for rent, home modifications or day-to-day living expenses like food.
- Contact your Support Coordination if you want to access SIL funding and more information.
- SIL is a package of paid support that includes assistance with daily household or personal tasks such as cleaning, cooking, showering or support to go shopping.

Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA)
- A private rental
- A house that you own
- Housing through the Department of housing and other similar service.
